MKK Supports Area Youth Volunteers

Greenwood Village, CO, October 19, 2007—MKK Consulting Engineers, Inc. held a charity golf tournament in September 2007 to raise money for a very unique organization, the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol. This non-profit, based in Arapahoe County, is the only search and rescue organization in the country composed entirely of young adults. Members are trained extensively in wilderness rescue including rock- and high-angle rescue, avalanche rescue, swift water rescue and wilderness life support.  Adults participate on the Board of Directors, provide training and oversee operations, but it’s the youth who hold officer positions and command the search and rescue operations in the field.

Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, formed in 1957, provides an experience for youth that encourages them to make positive choices in their lives. They must be ready at all times to be called out on service to provide assistance to the community and to support local fire departments as well as law enforcement agencies. Many of the youth who participate in the program go on to work for the organizations they support. MKK’s employees and vendors were proud to contribute to this worthy cause, raising an amount of money that exceeded the original goal.

MKK Consulting Engineers, Inc. has a Community Service Committee that looks at various groups to support throughout the year. Each year, the firm reaches out to different types of charities in an effort to acknowledge the efforts that various organizations make in our lives.  Contributing to the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol was a way for MKK to honor the youth who will have a positive influence in the future.

Earlier this year, MKK sponsored the Sobriety House, which gives adults with chemical dependencies a place to live while receiving treatment for addictions. MKK employees donated needed items and spent an entire day remodeling two bedrooms and bathrooms in order to give residents a comfortable place to stay during their recovery.

In the Spring, MKK participated in an Arbor Day event at Washington Park.  Employees joined other volunteers to plant over 300 trees at the park. This event supported the “Tree by Tree” initiative to plant one million trees in the Denver metro area by the year 2025. MKK is a leader in sustainable mechanical and electrical design and consulting services and is committed to supporting a “greener” environment for the community.
