Carissa Mine Historic Preservation

The State of Wyoming, with funding from the State Historical Preservation Office and the South Pass Historical District (SPHD), engaged MKK to deliver new electrical utility service to the historic Carissa Mine. The Mill Building, dating back to the late 1800’s has been without power for over 60 years. The SPHD wanted to operate the mill as a tourist attraction which meant that the original Ball Mill, and associated equipment need to be repaired. The utility could not support the large loads required to turn the Mill, so a standby, 480-volt generator and distribution system was added.
