Boulder Valley School District Casey Middle School

As the first Colorado school to achieve LEED Platinum certification, this 1924 era middle school underwent a significant renovation to reduce energy costs while preserving the school’s historic foundation. The building utilizes a ground source heat pump with water to both heat and cool the building’s occupants. Other solutions included a state-of-the-art building lighting control system, solar panels to provide an alternative energy source, and natural daylighting system with automated dimming systems to preserve energy during the bright Colorado days.
